Author Interview with C.N.Bring

Today we welcome our first Author Interview. We were able to grab a few minutes with C.N. Bring Author of the Celia Kelly series. The Pact, The Lie and The Truth. You can find her at http://www.cnbring.org/





First off I want to thank you for taking the time to sit down and answer a few questions for us. Let's start off easy.

What is your favorite place to escape to to read and/or write?
Sitting in an oversized easy chair with the sun coming in through the window.

What book do you have to have in your collection?

The Diary of Anne Frank is one of my favorites. It deals with racial discrimination of its day, danger, suspense and everyday people being forced by catastrophic events to become the unsung heroes of their time, making history.

What book do you wish you had in your collection?

The entire collection of Agatha Christie

What drove you to write the Celia Kelly series?

When I first had the idea for the story ten years ago, I decided to write about what I loved most. Mystery, suspense and the military. I have always been particularly intrigued by the Navy SEALs and Intelligence and decided to put them both together.
The first in the series is The Pact, then The Lie and the most recent The Truth. At the end of this year we hope to have The Disappearance out in time for Christmas.
I grew up in an Army family, and I have an Associates degree in Criminal Investigation, and so most people ask me why not Army Rangers instead of Navy SEALs? I simply chose the SEALs because I was intrigued by the elite nature of the group. 

What has been your favorite scene to write so far?

My favorite scenes are missions or rescues. They involve a lot of research, planning and consulting. They are not only fun to write but very interesting to me.
My favorite book I'm working on is always the book I'm working on at the time.

Who do you look up to in the writing field?

James Patterson's intrigue, Tom Clancy's detail, John Gresham's weaving and I love how Mary Higgins's Clark began her career later in life, as I have.

Give us your ideal day...anything you want, the sky is the limit...

Begin with a great cup of coffee...prayer time...six good hours of writing and if I lived closer to my grandchildren the perfect day would be a couple of hours of them in the afternoon!

Books into movies...what are your thoughts? Good idea or should they leave well enough alone?

I think there are some books that are interpreted well into movies, but the more detailed the book the harder it is to capture the whole content accurately.  If I took my books to the screen, I'd consider a TV Series where you could use most all content in a continuing format. It would be easier to stay true to details.

And finally, Wine, coffee, or tea with your books?

Personally, I prefer Chamomile Tea

 Today we welcome Miranda Doerfler author of Brimstone Nightmares and Modern-Day Horrors to the blog today to share her favorite reads. So read on and see if you have the same taste in reads.

In my so-far-short life, unfortunately, I have not read many books. Not as many as I’d like, anyway. I am a slow reader and it takes me months to get through a single book. When I can find the time, however, I read Michael Crichton.

Crichton is fairly well-known – or, at least, one of his novels is; Jurassic Park. In high school, I read Jurassic Park for a creative writing project. I had seen my parents’ copy of the book lying around the house since I was little and always planned on reading it. This assignment was the perfect opportunity. I fell in love with the book (and the man) instantly. I have never read a book so quickly, nor have I ever appreciated one in such a capacity. It was truly a turning point in my life, and by the end of that semester, I was set on pursuing a career as a writer. I wanted someone to read my book and feel that it changed their life.

At the moment, I am reading Timeline. A group of young scientists and archaeologists with an interest in medieval times excavate the remains of an old town - Castelgard and La Roque - in France. When their mentor vanishes after visiting with the company funding their excavation, they investigate, only to find out that their mentor has travelled back in time to 1357 and is trapped there. The modern-day young scientists agree to time-travel to save their mentor, but will they be too late? Will they get trapped there, themselves? Will they die at the hands of vengeful lords or be rescued by heroic knights? These are the questions running through my mind as I plunge into the medieval world of Timeline and take a journey on which only Michael Crichton could send me.

Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

Good morning everyone! I know I have been absent for a few days, but there is a good reason. I was holed up reading a wonderful series of books by Jeaniene Frost. I have been telling myself for months I would sit down and read them and finally this last week I did. Over the last 6 days I have read all 5 of the Night Huntress series and LOVED Them. Can't wait for the next one to come out and am on the waiting list for the spinoff series Night Huntress World

I didn't review these one at a time because on certain series I like to review them as a whole and let me tell you this was one series I didn't want to put down. How I had wished I had a maid and a cook these past few days! Ms. Frost has created a world that I love to escape reality to. Amazing, hunky, strong, sexy male Vampires in the characters of Bones, Vlad, Spade, Tate and Juan. An awesome leading lady in Cat, who has her own demons to get past, along with an amazing supporting lady in Denise. Even the bad guys are pretty awesome, and those that keep you wondering if they are good and bad.

One of the focal points of each book is the relationship between Cat and Bones. I love how Ms. Frost has played these two out. The chemistry between them keeps getting better with each book! Plus it keeps you coming back for more.

Jeaniene Frost has created a world of vampires, ghouls, demons, and half breeds that will sweep you up, take you for a ride and set you back down drooling for more. 5/5 stars from this reviewer and I'll be waiting in line for the next installment.

Play Fling by Amber Scott

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a review of Play Fling by Amber Scott. This post is dedicated to the Indie Book Collective and all their hard work to help Indie Authors. Stay tuned I will be highlighting a book from members of the Collective over the course of the month!

Elliott came around the desk. He shut the door. Locked it.
Brooke’s heart thumped up her throat.
“I think I’ve made a mistake,” Brooke said, amazed her voice didn’t crack. “I think I have to go.”
“Don’t go,” he said again, stepping close.
His words enveloped her. Had she thought his glasses made him irresistible? She’d been wrong. His lashes set off depths so blue, so intense, they might penetrate her soul.
Slowly, he reached up, pushed a lock of hair from her face. His finger ran along her cheek, to her lobe, down her neck and up to her chin. With gentle pressure, he tipped her chin up. Brooke’s hands shook. Her mouth watered. Her mind searched for words and found two: don’t go.
How could she?
His gaze captivated hers. He lowered his head. She closed her eyes. The tremble in her hands spread up her arms, down her legs. Yes. God, yes. Let him kiss her. Let her taste his lips on hers, his breath, his mouth.
“Stay,” he whispered against her lips.
She failed to shake her head, no, she wouldn’t go. He began at her chin, a graze, and in slow succession, breathed and kissed and wet her skin. Kisses. Tantalizing, sensual, tickling. Around her mouth, teasing her. Away again, torture.
Her knees turned to water. She almost whimpered. His mouth found her hungry lips. 

My review of this is it's a must read! I loved the story, the characters, all of it! Amber has created that oh so yummy main man in Elliot...mmm scrumptious with whip cream on top! Millie...oh Millie....what can I say...a smack from reality a bit sooner might have helped her out a bit. I honestly didn't like her till the very end. And Brooke, now that's a gal I think we can all sit back and find in our own lives. A friend, a relative, a Mom to a child in your kids class...etc. She's the type of character that is real to us and that only made the story that much better for me. This is a book I would recommend to all my romance loving friends...especially if you like a little steam, cause yeah Amber Scott can certainly bring on the heat! 5/5 on my rating scale!!
